About Julia R. Blank
Julia Blank MD says that becoming a physician was a matter of serendipity meeting destiny. Her grandmother was an OB/GYN with a home office and as a child, Dr. Blank would spend her summers there. She loved to hang out in the waiting room, chatting with her grandmother’s patients. Conversations with her parents would inevitably include at least one mention of: 'When you're a doctor...' She feels lucky that the family trade--practicing medicine--is something she enjoys doing. Dr. Blank moved to Los Angeles from the East coast in 2003. One of the aspects she likes most about practicing medicine is taking care of her patients over the long term. She enjoys getting to know patients and their families, understanding how their lives impact their health--and vice versa..

In fact, before medical school, she picked up occasional gigs playing lounge music or as a piano accompanist. Her favorite vacation spots are the Amalfi coast, the Cotswolds, and home.

Dr Blank understood my concern. Was professional and thorough, but also concerned. I had an infection for several weeks and it was not getting better after being treated for suspected oral shingles. My original dentist did not recognize a problem with a tooth - in fact said he found nothing to be concerned about. Dr Blank insisted that they get a detailed xray of the tooth root, and prescribed antibiotics until I could get in to see a referring endodontist. She was exactly right. A 3D xray showed a dead nerve in the tooth, an infection, bone loss and tooth degradation. An Urgent root canal was required. I had the root canal already, the infection is subsiding, and I'm already feeling better. Please thank her for me.
