About Deborah D. Blakely
Deb has been caring for patients with both acute health concerns and those with various chronic diseases for 17 years. Deb found her love of medicine and helping others after volunteering at a local hospital in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Deb worked in nursing for the Air Force and got her degree from the University of Washington as a Physician Assistant. After graduating, she worked for 10 years as a family practice provider, caring for patients of all ages in addition to leading a class of physician assistant students during their clinical year of training. She also worked in Internal Medicine for 7 years at the Medical University of South Carolina, and has served on various committees, including the Patient Advisory Council and Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH).
Her patients appreciate her ability to listen and thoroughly address their concerns. Her clinical interests include chronic disease management and treatments for diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia as well as orthopedic joint injections.
