John S. Cullen, MD

Dr. Cullen, a past president of the American Academy of Family Physicians representing over 134,000 family physicians, residents and medical students across the nation practices full scope family medicine at Providence Valdez Medical Center. Dr. Cullen has delivered babies and cared for families in the Valdez community for over 30 years.
A graduate of University of Arizona School of Medicine, he moved to Valdez immediately after family medicine residency in Modesto, CA to raise his family and practice in rural Alaska. He has served as chief of staff for over twenty-five years.
Dr. Cullen enjoys speaking and advocating on behalf of rural patients on the national stage almost as much as he enjoys his adventurous life with his wife Michelle hiking, sailing, skating, skiing and enjoying all Valdez has to offer.
