Mackenzie C. Slater, MD

Dr. Slater is a board certified family medicine physician who grew up in Juneau, Alaska. She completed medical school at University of Washington School of Medicine in 2010 and did her specialty training at Ventura Family Medicine Residency in Ventura, California, graduating in 2013. She volunteered in Honduras for 2 years before returning to her home state, initially doing temporary assignments in rural Alaska (Bethel, Seward, Kodiak, and Juneau) before joining the faculty of the Alaska Family Medicine Residency full-time in 2017. Dr. Slater’s professional interests include bedside ultrasound, Spanish-speaking patients, pregnancy, and women's’ health,. Her favorite visits are when she gets to see new moms with their babies and take care of both of them as a couplet. She is credentialed to care for pregnant women including doing cesarean sections. She speaks Spanish and her health care approach is to empower people to take charge of their health by giving them information and encouragement.
