About Veronica J. Jessick
I grew up outside of Portland, Oregon, and went to the University of Oregon for my undergraduate degree. I loved science but felt that research alone lacked the human connection I craved. A career in medicine, on the other hand, would allow me to pursue my interest in science but also work directly with people to improve their lives. So I decided to become a doctor. I went on to graduate from medical school in Richmond, Virginia, and completed my residency in Spokane. Something else about me: I joined Farmgirlfit (a CrossFit-style gym for women in Spokane) and participated in a challenge to raise money for the Union Gospel Mission's women's shelter. I completed 500 pull-ups during the month of the challenge-a feat I never thought I’d be able to accomplish! On the personal side, I’m married to a critical-care nurse whom I met during medical school. I was excited to join Kaiser Permanente because of the emphasis on primary care and wellness. In particular, the team environment provides excellent care. At the same time, patient access is prioritized with e-visits, phone visits, same-day clinic visits, and the 24-hour consulting nurse helpline. I strive to make my patients feel listened to and cared for. Although I was trained in traditional allopathic medicine, I’m interested in alternative and complementary medicine as well. Family medicine is a great fit for me because I get to care for patients of all ages and support them through prevention and wellness. I’m especially passionate about women's health and maternity care. Outside of medicine I enjoy paddle boarding, skiing, hiking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family at our cabin in northern Idaho. I try to stay healthy by exercising regularly, drinking lots of water, getting a good night’s sleep, and cooking most of my meals at home with produce from our garden.
