About Neil Q. Tran
Dr. Tran graduated Cum Laude with degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of California, Irvine in 1997.
After earning a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Tran completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
He then completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of California, Los Angeles and the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. During his residency and fellowship, Dr. Tran was an active participant in both basic and clinical research in the field of diabetes and thyroid disease.
Dr. Tran practices general endocrinology, with special interests in detection and treatment of thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer using thyroid ultrasound, thyroid biopsy, and iodine therapy. Dr. Tran is committed to providing the latest advances in the field of endocrinology, the highest ethical standards, and patient safety.

He is always courteous, gentle and detail-oriented. However, He did not check up on my thyroid soon enough following my first operation to remove the cancerous thyroid lobe (Right side) with a few adjacent cancerous lymph nodes. He waited for over 1 1/2 years to do an ultrasound, and by then the cancer had spread to the chain of 17 lymph nodes close to the same area. He said the Covid Pandemic intervened, delaying his following up in a timely manner; also, I was among the 1% of patients that this happens to so it didn't seem likely to recur. Nevertheless, I had to have a Right Neck Dissection to remove all 17 lymph nodes, and removal of the healthy Left Side Thyroid Lobe. Follow-up radioactive Iodine therapy was administered by Dr. Trong. Afterward, Dr. Tran has been very attentive to all of the follow-up thyroid care, making adjustments to my Synthroid dosage and doing timely thyroid tests and follow-up appointments to monitor my thyroid health. And he was very helpful in providing a source where I could purchase Synthroid at a less expensive price, which I really appreciate. I was disappointed at my last visit that he no longer wanted to discuss the available treatments for my osteoporosis, which he pointed out Is severe. Since I have refused to try them In the past because of the frightening side effects, I sensed he was frustrated about my response, ending the visit by writing down the website with Information on the available treatments. He obviously did not want to discuss It any further, so I was unable to get his perspective on which treatments would be the safest and most effective. Otherwise, I have always found Dr. Tran to be conscientious in his care, and his assistants have been extremely helpful whenever I had a question or concern.
