Dr. Bussel received research funding to study outcomes of micro-invasive glaucoma surgical devices and novel ophthalmic imaging modalities. He has presented research and given talks at national and international meetings as well as written numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He remains an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCI School of Medicine. He recently had his first child with his wife, a physician at UCI Medical Center. PHILOSOPHY OF CARE: "One of the great privileges I have is to take care of patients with complicated eye diseases. I chose to be a glaucoma specialist because of my sincere compassion for patients dealing with a potentially devastating chronic disease that rarely has a cure. I long ago learned that people don’t care what you know until they know that you care. As a Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgeon, it is essential to me that you understand your disease and treatment options. We are in this together, and we make decisions together. I am committed to patient education, surgical excellence, advancing research, and clinical innovation. My passion is helping you improve, restore, or save vision to live a meaningful life. My dream is to be able to reverse or cure glaucoma damage." - Igor Bussel, M.D.
