About Nawar Alkhamesi
After graduating from medical school, Dr. Nawar Alkhamesi completed his basic surgical training at Imperial College London, UK. Subsequent to that he became research fellow at the Department of Biosurgery and Surgical Technology, Imperial College London where he developed and pioneered the technique for peritoneal aerosolization in minimally invasive surgery which led to the award of his PhD from the University of London, UK for his work on the use of intraperitoneal aerosolization of therapeutics in minimally invasive surgery. Following that Dr. Alkhamesi completed his higher general surgical and colorectal training at Imperial College London followed by a colorectal fellowship at St. Mark’s Hospital and Academic Institute, London, UK and minimal invasive and robotic fellowship at Canadian Surgical Technologies & Advanced Robotics (CSTAR), London Health Sciences Centre, University of Western Ontario, Canada. Before joining Kadlec, Dr. Alkhamesi was a minimally invasive Colorectal and General Surgeon at Western University and London Helth Sciences Center, London-Ontario, Canada. He also worked as a consultant colorectal surgeon at Imperial College London, UK where he worked at The Royal Marsden, Chelsea Westminster, Charing Cross and St. Mary’s Hospitals Dr. Alkhamesi has received numerous awards for his research, leading to several educational grants, more than 100 professional meeting presentations, and over 50 journal articles published in peer-reviewed literature in addition to multiple book chapters. Specializing in minimally invasive colorectal surgery, Dr. Alkhamesi research interests include surgical innovation and education, advance minimal invasive and video assisted surgery, Colorectal oncology, management of postoperative adhesions, and the improvement of operative environment.
