About Katharine M. Mason-Ellis
Katharine (Katie) Mason received her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon and worked as a physical therapist assistant in a home health setting. Feeling limited as to how much she could contribute to overall patient care and becoming more interested in the human body and medicine beyond the musculoskeletal system, she returned to school to complete her PA degree. Katie chose cardiology because she fell in love with the specialty during her rotation. She finds the heart fascinating and enjoys the continuity of care that is seen with many of the cardiology patients. She feels strongly that the most important role a provider is to have effective communication with the patient, including education and shared decision making. Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her family. She loves traveling, enjoying the outdoors, hiking and watching Oregon Duck football.
