Joel Gilbertson
Joel Gilbertson serves as chief executive of Providence’s Central Division, leading the health system’s operations in Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Eastern Washington.
Following his call to Providence in 2005, Joel first served as chief strategy and administrative officer for the Alaska region. Since then he has held several executive roles at Providence, most recently as the chief executive of the Eastern Washington and Montana region, which he continues to oversee. Earlier in his career he served as Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.
Joel serves on a number of boards, including Catholic Community Services of Western Washington, Catholic Housing Services of Western Washington, Greater Spokane Inc., Washington Alliance for Better Schools, Washington State Hospital Association, Waterfall Foundation, and Well Being Trust.
Joel holds a doctor of jurisprudence and a master’s in public health from George Washington University. He earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
