Our Nursing Awards program celebrates and acknowledges excellent nurses. Five awards are given annually to nurses whose work and commitment promotes and furthers the hospital’s mission and core values - compassion, justice, respect, excellence and stewardship. Each award recipient is given a scholarship to attend a national education conference in her/his specialty area.
Blessed Emilie Gamelin Award for Community Service
Exemplifies the mission and core values of the Sisters of Providence. Demonstrates volunteerism and community involvement and has implemented or participated as a leader in the implementation of a service or program that serves the poor and vulnerable.
Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart Pioneering Innovation in Clinical Practice Award
Has implemented a nursing practice that has significantly improved patient outcomes or the effectiveness of patient care delivery.
Sister Mary Cabrini Excellence in Education Award
A nurse who mentors, teaches and coaches others in nursing practice excellence, collaboration and customer service. Has developed and taught a program or practice that has resulted in significantly improved patient outcomes, increased patient satisfaction or increased excellence in nursing practice.
Sister Claire Gagnon Stewardship Award
A nurse who has identified innovative ways to use resources more effectively and led a department to adopt the innovation. Has collaborated with other departments to improve efficiency and wisely cared for and shared human, environmental and financial resources held in trust.
Sister Rita Ferschweiler Nursing Leadership Award
Has led a department, team or Nursing Council through a significant change that has demonstrated and promoted the mission and core values of the Sisters of Providence.
