The Providence Lung Cancer Clinic at Providence Cancer Center now offers multidisciplinary care for people newly diagnosed with one of the most common cancers in the U.S.
At the clinic, providers from multiple specialties team up to evaluate and plan treatment for you over the course of just one office visit – a significant benefit when compared with the series of appointments that usually follow a lung cancer diagnosis.
“Typically, a person with confirmed or suspected lung cancer will see several different types of specialists – including multiple appointments, in multiple locations, over the course of a few weeks – before their treatment plan is finalized. At our clinic, the goal is to create a treatment plan that reflects expert input from all key specialty areas by the end of one day,” says Dr. Rachel Sanborn, co-director of the Providence Thoracic Oncology Program.
After you’re referred by your medical provider, the clinic team will:
Preview your medical history to understand your case in advance
Schedule multiple specialists to see you during one office visit
Collaboratively create a treatment plan by the end of your visit
Send a summary report and treatment recommendations to your referring medical provider
Offer access to advanced bronchoscopic techniques, including electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), as well as new chemotherapy agents and minimally invasive surgery options
Connect you and your family with health education resources and support services
Provide access to innovative clinical trials under way at Providence Cancer Center
