Providence Benedictine's rehabilitation team provides both inpatient and outpatient services designed to restore clients to the highest level of physical and mental functioning possible. We serve a wide range of clients, including those with neurological disorders such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and Parkinson's disease, as well as those who have had orthopedic fractures, amputations and joint replacements. Our services include:
Physical Therapy
Physical therapists provide services to restore mobility and strength and to decrease pain. Using exercise, gait/balance techniques and pain therapies; such as ice and heat, our physical therapists work to correct difficulties with walking and mobility, prevent falls and unsteadiness, and improve strength and energy.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists help restore a client's ability to complete activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing and eating. They also teach higher-level skills such as money management, cooking, home safety assessments and recommendations for modifications to the home environment. Adaptive equipment is often recommended to make these tasks easier.
Speech and Language Therapy
Speech and language therapists provide a number of services involving swallowing disorders and cognitive function. The therapists work to restore a client's ability to eat and swallow safely, decreasing the potential for aspiration, pneumonia and other infections. Further, they can evaluate and treat many aspects of a client's mental and sensory function, including language, hearing, judgment, reasoning and memory.
