Fruit

Sharing a platter of fresh fruit is one of the best ways to end any meal. Especially since fruit offers so many health benefits, including these:

  • Fruits are important sources of many nutrients, including potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin C, and folate (folic acid). A diet high in fruits and vegetables is linked to lower levels of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and weight, as well as other healthy benefits.
  • You can get 20% of your recommended daily fiber by eating a single apple.
  • An average banana has virtually no fat.
  • Berries are packed with antioxidants, which some researchers believe have the potential to prevent or delay diseases such as heart disease and can-cer. They also offer fiber and vitamins C and E.
  • Red and purple grapes provide a number of heart-healthy benefits, includ-ing reducing LDL cholesterol and helping maintain a healthy blood pres-sure.
