 A message from Rob Miller, chair, Providence Portland Medical Foundation Board of Directors
A foundation is defined as the basis upon which something stands or is supported. Providence Portland Medical Foundation plays a vital role in supporting Providence Portland Medical Center’s tradition of caring.
Taking in all the tremendous changes that have occurred over the past few years at Providence, I am impressed by all that has been accomplished with the help of private donors, physicians, employees, corporate sponsors and the community. For the past several years, our focus has been on raising dollars to build the new Providence Cancer Center. That dream was realized when the doors to this exceptional facility opened to the public in March 2008. This “Center of Hope” for cancer patients and their families has been funded to a significant degree through philanthropy.
As the chair of Providence Portland Medical Foundation Board of Directors, I want to thank you for your confidence and philanthropic support. Our Providence Together Campaign is the single largest fund-raising initiative in the history of our organization. It has been successful because you believe in the Providence Mission.
On this campus, cancer has received the most generous philanthropic support. We now are on the cutting edge of technology, offering the latest treatments and pioneering some of the latest advances in research. Our scientists are changing the way we look at cancer treatments and providing hope that improved patient options are on the horizon, as our team collaborates with colleagues from across the country and around the world.
I am equally impressed that we continue to innovate and lead with work in the Providence Brain Institute and Providence Heart and Vascular Institute. It is your support that helps us sustain excellence in each of these areas.
Great things are happening at Providence Portland Medical Center and the Foundation is playing a key role. It’s exciting to be a part of the process. Thanks once again for your involvement.
