Providence Cancer Center

Robert W. Franz Cancer Research Center in the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute
Tours: 3 to 4:30 p.m. on July 9, Aug. 6, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 5 and Dec. 10.
Tour Providence Cancer Center and learn how internationally recognized cancer researchers are conducting promising research aimed at harnessing the power within our bodies’ own immune systems as a tool to fight cancer.

Gamma Knife Center of Oregon
Steven Seung, M.D., medical director of the Gamma Knife Center of Oregon, will discuss research focusing on improving the outcomes of patients with brain metastases by combining Gamma Knife treatment with oral anti-cancer drugs. For tour dates, please contact Gwen Schwartz, 503-215-6020.

Providence Brain Institute

Providence Stroke & Acute Rehabilitation Centers
Tours: Noon to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 14. Lunch provided.
Lisa Yanase, M.D., medical director, Providence Stroke Center at Providence Portland Medical Center, will discuss the most up-to-date information on stroke prevention, treatment, research and education. Molly Hoeflich, M.D., medical director, Providence Acute Rehabilitation Center, will talk about the highly skilled team of doctors and therapists who work to help patients regain quality of life after a life-altering medical event.

Providence Parkinson’s Disease Center
Tour noon to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 7
Medical director Richard Rosenbaum, M.D., will discuss current research, clinical trials and his unique “virtual clinic” model for the treatment and management of symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Rosenbaum is a noted researcher, educator and clinician, and is the author of Understanding Parkinson’s Disease, a useful and very readable guide for patients and caregivers.

Providence ALS Center (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)
Tour noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 23
Providence ALS Center is distinguished as the only center in Oregon certified by The ALS Association as a national Center of Excellence. In addition to current clinical research to find a cure for the disease, medical director Kim Goslin, M.D., Ph.D., will speak about her unique coordinated clinic model which increases life expectancy for her ALS patients and enhances quality of life by proactively managing symptoms of the disease.
