Volunteering with Providence Portland Medical Center
Thank you for your interest in volunteer work at Providence Portland Medical Center! We are currently experiencing a heavy volume of volunteer applicants and are placing a temporary hold on new applications. As soon as we can make additional volunteer placements, we will update our Website and phone lines with that message. Thank you for your patience; we truly appreciate your desire to serve Providence.
Overview
Providence Portland Medical Center's volunteers serve 45 different departments within the hospital, with more than 60 different jobs. Jobs range from gift shop clerk, eucharistic minister, special projects, to nursing support. Volunteers typically work a four hour shift, one day per week. Adult volunteers are asked to make a six month commitment, and student or teen volunteers are asked to make a three month commitment. Those interested in applying, should fill out and return the application form and background disclosure (for those over 18). All applicants will be called for interviews in the order in which the applications are received. Please allow for a two- to three-month waiting period as we have a high volume of applications. Once an applicant is interviewed and placed, he or she will be scheduled for a two hour orientation.
