Lushly Colored Watercolors of Brad Isom Feature a ‘Love Affair’ with Light at Providence Milwaukie Community Gallery
Jan. 12, 2009
WHAT: Deep and vibrant colors, created with several coats of transparent watercolors, mark the landscapes and wildlife paintings of self-taught Canby artist Brad Isom at the Providence Milwaukie Community Gallery.
WHEN: On display through March 9 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
DETAILS: Providence Milwaukie Community Gallery welcomes an exhibit of paintings by Canby resident Brad Isom. A self-taught, award-winning artist, Isom has successfully marketed his paintings all over the Western United States. His transparent watercolors are both deeply washed and pigmented, resulting in strong, often exaggerated color. "It often takes three or four coats to build the pigment I want," he says.
Isom's approach is to find an image that appeals to him, then put his style to work. "I lean toward realism, but never quite get there," he says. He incorporates what he calls "a love affair" with light and dark and a love of detail. Isom specializes in Northwest and Southwest landscapes, but is also adept in still life and wildlife.
Providence Milwaukie Hospital recognizes that art can help to soothe and nourish the human spirit. We are pleased to showcase the work of our community’s diverse and talented artists in the Providence Milwaukie Community Gallery as a demonstration of that belief. All proceeds from sales go directly to the exhibiting artist. The gallery is curated by the Clackamas County Cultural Coalition.
