Breastfeeding Preparation – This class will help prepare you for the first few weeks of breastfeeding. Learn about maintaining a good milk supply, positioning your baby to avoid soreness, and solving common problems. Partners are encouraged to attend class. Fee: $42 per couple. Providence Health Plans members: $40.

Childbirth Preparation – This four-week class series, held one night a week, helps first-time parents prepare for a more comfortable labor and delivery. It includes a combination of lectures, active practice and group discussion to give new parents the confidence needed to welcome their babies to the world. This class does not include breastfeeding and newborn care information. Fee: $85 per couple. Providence Health Plans members: $25. Financial assistance is available. For Big Brothers- and Big Sisters-To-Be – This special sibling class for children ages 3 to 6 helps prepare them for their new roles as a big brothers or sisters. Parents must be present. Infant CPR – This class for parents and family members of infants will address issues specific to infant CPR. Learn how to perform rescue breathing, CPR and choking maneuvers for infants ages 1 month to 12 months. This is a non-certifying course. Do not bring children to class. Pricing is per person. Maternity Orientation – This class will help familiarize parents with the maternity unit, answer any questions they may have, and help them feel more comfortable navigating the hospital prior to labor and delivery. Children ages 6 and older are welcome. This class does not include a tour of the maternity unit. Price: Free.

Parenting: Bringing Baby Home (Ages 0 to 1 year) – This three-session program helps parents of infants 1 year and younger equip themselves with the knowledge and skills needed to cope with the changes brought about by the birth of their baby. It teaches couples how to: strengthen friendships with their partners; deal effectively with conflict; allow dads to be involved in infant care and parenting; improve the quality of parent-infant interactions; and recognize psychological and emotional needs of the child. The series is for couples whose baby has or will be born prior to the start of the class series. Pricing is per couple; pre-crawling babies welcome. Fee: $85. Providence Health Plan members: $80.

Childbirth Preparation Weekend Seminar – This seminar is for expectant parents who prefer a one-weekend course. They will gain valuable information about labor and delivery, labor support, comfort measures and relaxation techniques. Parents should be in third trimesters of pregnancy while taking this class. Two sessions: Friday evening and all day Saturday (a $5 lunch coupon is provided). Pricing is per couple. Fee: $115. Providence Health Plans members: $55. Financial assistance is available. Newborn Care and Feeding for Multiples – Two-Session Class – Having two or more babies? This series is designed for twins or more and covers the basics of newborn care and feeding. Participants will discuss issues around establishing daily routines and how to get the most sleep possible. They also will learn how to feed two or more babies at once, the benefits of both bottle and breastfeeding, and all about breast pumps. Pricing is per couple. Providence Health Plan members: $83.
