August 13, 2009
PORTLAND, Ore. — Mark J. Kralj has been elected to the board of directors for Providence Child Center Foundation.
Kralj, a principal at Ferguson Wellman Capital Management, has a history of volunteer work with various local foundations including Providence St. Vincent Medical Center Foundation, the American Red Cross and Oregon State University Foundation. His American Red Cross experience includes chairing its national endowment as well as serving as a board member of the Oregon Trail Chapter. In addition, he has a long history of community service focusing on disadvantaged and disabled youth that began as a respite volunteer with Easter Seals.
Kralj believes that Providence Child Center serves a vital role in the Pacific Northwest. As a board member, his role is to help raise funds for the center and use his investment experience to help guide the growth of the endowment fund. His personal goal is to spread the word about the services that the center provides and get more people involved to visit and support it.
“It’s a very worthwhile organization,” says Kralj. “It brings me great satisfaction to see the children’s lives brightened a little bit.”
Kralj has three grown children and two grandchildren. He lives with his wife, Katherine, in Gresham.
