Our volunteers touch our community by helping their neighbors, friends and each other when they volunteer at Providence Seaside Hospital. They are such an important part of Providence Seaside Hospital, as they quietly serve our community by using their talents and time. We appreciate the energy and the commitment they have made to the hospital. Providence Seaside Hospital needs volunteers that enjoy meeting, interacting and helping other people.
Volunteers typically work a two to four hour shift, one day per week. Adult volunteers are requested to make a six-month commitment (if possible) and student volunteers are requested to make a three-month commitment (if possible).
Seaside Providence volunteers serve in a variety different areas throughout the hospital and Providence clinics. Some of the departments supported are Environmental Services, Extended Care Unit, Dietary, Human Resources, Foundation, Medical/Surgical Unit, Materials Management and the Gift Shop to name just a few. Volunteers perform a variety of tasks such as delivering flowers, escorting families to a patient's room, offering free magazines from the activity cart, holding the hand of a frightened patient, delivering meal trays to patients, making packets, wheeling discharged patients to the front of the hospital, clerical services and much, much more.
Duties include patient care and non-patient services.

History
On February 9, 1961, a group of ladies who wanted to help the then Seaside General Hospital in "any way they could," organized an auxiliary. At that time, the hospital was located at Avenue S and Franklin in Seaside, where the school district administrative offices are now located.
The current hospital opened on Wahanna Road in 1979. In 1981, the hospital came under the management of the Sisters of Providence. In 1990, the name was changed to Providence Seaside Hospital.
Highlights
The Providence Seaside Hospital Auxiliary reached the 100,000 volunteer hours mark at the beginning of 2008. The Auxiliary has provided 77 pieces of equipment to the hospital.
