Dementia/Alzheimer's Unit
Our Alzheimer’s neighborhood is appropriately named "Whispering Meadows." This unit provides a quiet haven for the memory-impaired individuals. Our highly trained nursing staff specializes in a gentle understanding of the disease process and the patience required to eliminate frustration in this difficult time of a resident’s and family’s lives. Nurses provide a home-like atmosphere ensuring professional assessment and treatment of all medical needs. The well trained staff successfully guides families and residents through the many stages of Alzheimer’s with dignity to the final stages. Services and programs available on our unit:

  • Social work and case manager    
  • Activities coordinator    
  • Behavior management training    
  • Psychiatric consultation    
  • Pet therapy (neighborhood pets include a bird and a cat)    
  • Courtyard    
  • Neighborhood meetings (families are invited to participate)    
  • Multidisciplinary care conferences    
  • Outings to malls, shopping, the zoo, the Farmer’s Market, Lake Fair Senior Day; Christmas lights throughout the Olympia area, etc.    
  • Annual resident/family picnic (second Saturday of September)
