FEMALE GENERAL SURGEON JOINS
PROVIDENCE HOOD RIVER'S
EXPANDING SURGERY CENTER
October 6, 2009
HOOD RIVER, Ore. - General surgeon Christeen Osborn, M.D., recently joined Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital's surgery center.
A graduate of Stonybrook University School of Medicine in New York, Dr. Osborn joins surgeons John Garcia, M.D., and Michael Hauty, M.D., at Providence Hood River's newly expanded surgery center.
Dr. Osborn completed her residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard Medical School. She is extensively trained in treating diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal system, breast, skin and soft tissue, and endocrine organs. In addition, she's trained to perform laparoscopy, endoscopy and surgery for vein care. She most recently worked in a rural community hospital in Alamosa, Colo.
Dr. Osborn and her husband moved to Hood River to embrace the outdoor opportunities, healthy lifestyle and the personalization of a small town. "I become deeply invested in my patients' well-being," Dr. Osborn says. "I want to connect on a personal level and help them through their ailments. There is a sense of fulfillment from this connection. This fulfillment is what attracted me to the medical field."
She notes that her husband grew up fly fishing in Oregon, so the sport - along with many other outdoor opportunities - were a huge draw. "I love the uniqueness of the Gorge communities and I look forward to treating patients and meeting new friends," she explains.
As part of its new 36,000-square-foot hospital addition, Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital's surgery center has doubled in size. The center expanded from nine private patient rooms to 18 in the same-day surgery area; increased the number of operating rooms from three to four, each with state-of-the-art technology; and added new endoscopy suites. The addition is part of Providence's $50 million, 72,000-square-foot expansion and modernization project that will be completed in 2009.
Dr. Osborn is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, call 541-387-6125.
