PILOT PHYSICALS NOW OFFERED
AT PROVIDENCE HOOD RIVER’S
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH CENTER

HOOD RIVER, Ore. – With the goal of offering expanded services to Gorge area businesses and to support the needs of private pilots and student pilots, Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital now offers Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) compliant aviation physicals at its Occupational Health Center.

Providence physician Christopher Van Tilburg, M.D., was recently designated as an aviation medical examiner by the FAA, the first such designation in the Columbia River Gorge in several years.

Experienced in family and emergency medicine, occupational and travel health, Dr. Van Tilburg adds aviation physical exams to enhance his practice at Providence Hood River’s occupational health center and travel health services. In addition, Dr. Van Tilburg is a physician at Providence Mountain Medical Clinic at Mount Hood Meadows ski resort and a volunteer with Crag Rats mountain rescue unit. He recently wrote the book “Mountain Rescue Doctor: Wilderness Medicine in the Extremes of Nature.”

Providence Hood River’s occupational health center offers a full spectrum of services including evaluation, treatment and case management for on-the-job injuries, pre-employment and basic health physicals, aviation, transportation and railroad safety screening, travel health services, disease prevention, ergonomic evaluations and vaccinations. The center’s staff also offers a variety of classes including blood borne pathogens, depression screening, workplace injury prevention, diet and exercise.
