"HEARTS OF GOLD"

August 4, 2008

HOOD RIVER, Ore. - They are among us - people with hearts of gold. Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital would like to honor three of them this year and is looking for nominations for its annual "Hearts of Gold" awards.

"This year, we are honoring individuals or agencies whose good works have made our community healthier," says Rena Whittaker, the hospital foundation's executive director. The awards will be given to one physician, one health care professional and one community member. Each will be recognized for their advocacy or action that have made a difference in the health of the Hood River County community.

Nominations need to indicate if the nominee is a physician, health professional or community member and include a letter of support describing their efforts. It must also include the nominator's name, phone number and e-mail address. Nominations need to be mailed or e-mailed by Friday, Sept. 12 to Rena Whittaker at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 149, Hood River, OR 97031 .
