Features at the new Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital:

Reflecting Providence's commitment to the health of Gorge communities, the expansion and renovation follows the Green Guide for Health Care, focusing on environmentally healthy and sustainable building design, construction and operations.
The hospital's new main entrance is now located at the intersection of 12th Street and May Street, offering easier access and a new patient parking lot.
A new welcoming entrance features a gallery of Youthful Art of Healing art created by young local artists.
The new hospital expansion offers better flow from one department to another, with the best patient experience in mind.
The new family birth center is triple the size of the previous unit. It includes private labor and delivery rooms with laboring tubs. Post partum rooms offer comfort for new families, with window seats, hide-a-beds, dining tables and private bathrooms. A dedicated Caesarean section operating room is nearby so patients do not have to leave the birth center for surgery.
The hospital's surgery center now has twice as much space and is designed to offer a whole new experience in outpatient surgery. The center features 18 new private rooms for patients and their families before and after surgery. The center also will add a state-of-the-art endoscopy suite and expand from three to four operating rooms with state-of-the-art technology.
The Diagnostic Imaging Center also has doubled in size. The center features a new dedicated women's imaging center specializing in screening and diagnostic mammography, pelvic and breast ultrasound, and bone density screening. New MRI and nuclear medicine equipment has been added, and there also is a private waiting area for the center.
A new chapel is located on the 2nd floor of the lobby, dedicated to creating a place of peace and comfort in times of need, serving people of all faiths and spiritualities. There are chaplains and interpreters on call daily to provide caring, culturally sensitive service.
A new pre-operative testing and blood draw service will be located inside the new lobby for easy patient access.
Infusion services have been expanded and now are more conveniently located inside the main entrance.
Providence is a not-for-profit Catholic health care system dedicated to caring for the poor and vulnerable, regardless of their ability to pay. In 2007, Providence Hood River donated $3.3 million in free or discounted services and community program support. 2008 was a time of even great economic challenges and Providence Hood River giving trended significantly higher than $3.3 million however final accounting figures will not be available until later this spring.
