Pelvic and bladder support - Where does it go and what can we do? A free community forum.

DETAILS:
Providence women’s clinic physicians Elaine Adsit, M.D., and Robin Henson, M.D., will discuss the latest information on the causes and current treatments for urinary incontinence, including medications, physical therapy and corrective surgery. There will be a review of the issues related to pelvic floor support and options women have when dealing with different types of prolapse. Fee: Free

Sleep apnea, insomnia and other sleep disorders can have serious side effects. Respiratory therapist Al Cady, a former sleep disorder sufferer and now the manager of Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital’s sleep clinic, will explain common sleep problems and what you or someone you care about can do to get your life back. There will be time for discussion and a tour of the sleep lab. Fee: Free

Diabetic Education Series. A series of classes to educate and support those with diabetes.

DETAILS:
Whether you have a new diagnosis of diabetes or have had it for some time, Providence Diabetes Education Services offers patients and their families information and support. Diabetes educators will help you learn how to control diabetes through diet, exercise, stress management and medication.

Registration is required, and includes a one-hour private consultation. Insurance often covers the cost. Scholarships are available. A referral by your physician or health care provider is required. To register, call 541-387-6379.

As we head into the holiday season many of us become more stressed and depressed. Clinical psychologist Bruce Ruttenburg will explore what is commonly called “the holiday blues.” The objective is to fell less distressed and make better sense of the holiday blues. Fee: Free

Faith in Action Providence Community Caregivers training. A free volunteer training.

DETAILS:
Faith in Action Providence Community Caregivers is looking for volunteers who can help aging or disabled people remain independent and able to stay in their own homes. Volunteers are welcomed from churches, synagogues, mosques, and other communities of faith and from the community at large.
