Childbirth & Parenting Classes
Participants learn about nutrition, exercise, relaxation, labor, breathing techniques, teamwork with partner, birth, and newborn care and feeding, and they will tour the hospital’s Family Birth Center. Preparing for the Birth of Your Baby
A series of classes to educate and support expectant parents. Choose between a four-session week night course and a two-session weekend class. Learn about prenatal care, labor/delivery breathing and relaxation, newborn care, breastfeeding and parenting of a new baby. A free breastfeeding class is available and a tour of the Family Birth Center is included.
What: Series of four-week night classes offered - same topics for each series
Fee: $45 per couple

Aug. 13, 20, 27, Sep. 3, - 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, - 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Weekend course offered - same topics for each series
Sept. 5 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 6 - 6 to 9 p.m.
Oct. 24 and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Oct. 25 - 9 a.m to 4 p.m.
Practical Skills for Labor and Delivery
A course designed for those who have already attended childbirth classes and want additional information and practice with labor coping techniques. Course highlights include: body awareness, patterned breathing techniques, labor positions and tips for the second stage of labor.
Fee: $30 per couple

Breastfeeding Basics
A class that offers practical tips on breastfeeding. Topics include: benefits and mechanics of breastfeeding, determining if your baby is getting enough milk and appropriate nipple care.

Sibling Celebration
Siblings ages 2 through 8 prepare for their role as a brother or sister. The children learn what to expect when they visit the hospital, how to hold a newborn and safe behavior around the new baby.

So You're Going to be a Daddy
Taught by a veteran father, this class gives practical insights about what to expect during the first few weeks at home with your new baby.

Happiest Babies in the GorgeA class sharing the challenges and joys of parenting. Parents bring their babies and share experiences. The class includes information on sleeping habits, food and nutritional issues, bottle and breastfeeding, and adjusting to parenthood.

Family Birth Center Talk and TourA talk and tour that will help parents get ready for their hospital experience. From understanding the admission process, touring the labor rooms and meeting the staff, parents will be prepared to make an easy transition from home to the hospital.
