Automated Lab:  High-tech, fully automated lab gives patients quick, safe results

Automated LabTo give you the fastest possible and most accurate test results, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett offers one of the Puget Sound region’s first fully automated laboratory systems.

Complete with robotic arms, a conveyor belt, and sophisticated testing sections, the lab facility on our Colby Campus handles routine lab processing functions with tremendous speed and accuracy.

How it works

  • Specimens arrive at the lab with bar-coded labels.

  • Tubes are placed onto the machine, where an electronic arm picks them up, removes their caps, and directs each one to its appropriate processing location.

  • Results are sent to the lab computer system. The machine re-caps the tubes and sends them to refrigerated storage for easy retrieval if more testing is needed.

The minutes saved by the new automated lab could be life-saving for many, especially stroke or trauma patients.
