Treatment Services for Alcoholism and Other Drug Addictions About Us Providence Behavioral Health Services is a hospital-based program comprised of inpatient, outpatient, and day treatment programs. We provide patients with medical detoxification, if needed, as well as rehabilitative treatment for alcoholism and other drug dependencies.
Our staff includes a team of alcohol and drug addiction counselors, physicians, nurses, a nutritionist, and spiritual care providers. It is headed by our Medical Director, an addiction medicine physician who specializes in the treatment of alcoholism and other drug addictions.
Providence Behavioral Health Services is licensed by the State of Washington and is approved as a treatment facility by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations (JCAHO).
Our Philosophy Chemical dependency is a disease which uniquely affects not only the individual but also family and friends. Recovery is a process that begins with acceptance and understanding of the disease. It relies on abstinence and depends on continued support through participation in community sober support programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, in conjunction with an ongoing treatment program.
Confidential pre-admission screening followed by extensive initial and ongoing assessment provide the patient with the most cost-effective and clinically appropriate level of treatment based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) guidelines.
Services The treatment staff provides physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual care to patients. In concert with the Providence Core Values, we strive to respect each patient's dignity and privacy. Due to the expansive range of services we offer, we are able to reduce lengths of stay on our inpatient unit and quickly move patients into less intensive treatment settings.
Individualized treatment modalities include: Medical evaluation Individual and group therapy Nutritional counseling Education Introduction to community sober support programs Education and interaction with family and concerned others Spiritual care Continuing care
Assessment An assessment is available to anyone needing assistance in evaluating whether a chemical dependency problem may exist. Recommendations and, if necessary, referrals will be given at the completion of the evaluation.
Detoxification In the medical process of detoxification, toxic chemicals are removed from the patient's body while staff closely attend to the patient's physical, mental, and emotional needs.
Stabilization Following medical detoxification, patients remain in the hospital for one or two days for stabilization. This level of care includes education, group therapy, and attendance at sober support meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
Partial Hospitalization Program The day patient program consists of daily activities including meditation, group therapy, education, and attendance at sober support meetings. Day patients return to their own homes each night.
Intensive Outpatient Program Our intensive outpatient program consists of eight weeks of day or evening sessions centered on education, individual and group therapy, family education, and participation in community sober support programs. Three-hour sessions, three days per week fulfill the required 72 hours of treatment.
Continuing Care Weekly continuing care sessions are provided for up to six months following the intensive outpatient program. These hourly groups focus on developing relapse prevention skills, using support services, and addressing recovery issues.
Monthly Monitoring Monthly monitoring sessions are available to patients who require two-year treatment programs to satisfy legal requirements. These sessions are held on the first Monday of each month in the morning and in the evening. Drug testing, verification of community sober support meeting attendance, and current status updates are essential facets of this program.
