Providence provided nearly $166 million in community benefits in 2008, including $77 million in free or reduced-cost care to our patients in need.
As a not-for-profit Catholic health care ministry, Providence embraces its responsibility to provide for the needs of the communities we serve. Our not-for-profit status and our careful stewardship of financial resources allow us to deliver quality care and also to donate many subsidies, services and grants to meet local needs.

What are community benefits?
How does Providence decide on community benefits?
"Providence Health & Services has been a committed partner with Sisters of The Road for more than 10 years, providing volunteers in the Cafe, on the Board of Directors, and throughout the organization; and offering vital funding for groundbreaking programs, matching grants and research on ending homelessness by working with the experts - people with experience with homelessness. Sisters of The Road and Providence share a vision of working together with people who are experiencing homelessness and/or extreme poverty, building relationships and working toward solutions. We are grateful to the Sisters of Providence for their vision and Providence Health & Services for their generosity and commitment to our community. We could not do some of the groundbreaking work we do without them. Thank you!"
