LifeGuard Alaska Aircraft

The composition of the LifeGuard fleet is designed to meet Alaska's unique demands. Aircraft include a Lear Jet 35, a King Air 200 twin-engine turbo prop and a AS-350-B2 single engine helicopter. LifeGuard operates under FAA, FAR Part 135.  The fixed wing aircraft fly under Instrument Flight Rules and the helicopter operates under Visual Flight Rules. The aviation service organization providing aviation support for LifeGuard meets all State, Local and Federal rules, regulations and requirements for certification and operation of an emergency air ambulance service. Rotor wing aviation services are provided by Evergreen Helicopters of Alaska Inc, based in Anchorage, Alaska. Fixed wing services are provided by Aero Air, based out of Hillsboro, Oregon.

Aircraft interiors are medically configured as a mobile intensive care unit. Equipment and drugs necessary to care for all critically ill or injured patients LifeGuard serves are available on board the aircraft.

Coverage Area
Because of the great distances involved in the region we serve, our selection of aircraft allows us to match the equipment to the situation. The jet has a nonstop range of over 2,000 miles and flies approximately 500 mph, the fastest mode of air transport. The turboprop covers about 1,100 miles nonstop and is capable of operating on strips approximately 3,200 feet. The helicopter is ideal for response to a scene or hospital within a 150-200 mile radius of it's base location.
