About LifeGuard Alaska

When you are ill or injured, travel can be difficult, or at times, seem impossible. LifeGuard Alaska makes it possible for patients to get medical care at the facility of their choice.

Accreditation:
LifeGuard Alaska is accredited by the Commision of Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS), the industry's most respected representation for all aspects of air safety and quality.

LifeGuard Alaska was the first Alaska-based medical transport service to receive this accreditation in July 2000. To become accredited, the service is evaluated on safety standards, education, equipment, staffing, management, communications, maintenance and administration. The LifeGuard team was reaccredited in 2006.

CAMTS is an independent organization made up of representation from 13 professional groups associated with air medical transport. Some of the groups are the National Air Transportation Association, the Air Medical Physician Association, the National Flight Paramedics Association and the National Flight Nurses Association. CAMTS was established in 1991.

LifeGuard Alaska is the Air Ambulance service of Providence Alaska Medical Center; and Alaska's premier MEDEVAC provider. The LifeGuard service is a fully dedicated, providing local, statewide, national and international advanced life support / critical-care air ambulance services; providing both rotor wing and fixed wing air services utilizing a hospital based helicopter, as well as turbo prop, and jet fixed wing aircraft, all with state-of-the-art medical interiors.

Destinations:
LifeGuard Alaska flies locally and worldwide; taking patients to PAMC, other healthcare facilities, or home after care. The LifeGuard Jets have transported patients to Providence from all over the State of Alaska, the Lower 48, Canada and the Russian Far East. Most patients come from within a 400-mile radius of Anchorage. LifeGuard has flown patients to the Lower 48 for specialized medical care not available in Alaska; Washington, Oregon, California, and Texas are common destinations. Our Helicopter services the local Anchorage, Mat-Su, and Kenai boroughs and will respond within 10 minutes of receiving the call.

Availability:
LifeGuard Alaska's fixed-wing airplanes are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Providence Medical Center medical excellence:
Our aircraft are staffed by medical teams made up of Providence medical professionals who treat adult and pediatric patients--nurses, paramedics, neonatal, maternal and pediatric specialists, and physicians who are selected based on the patient's needs.

The medical equipment and medications on board make us a mobile intensive care unit, equipped to handle nearly any patient who is moderately to critically ill. A team of specialists and critical-care physicians at Providence Medical Center, who are available for telephone or consultations, support the in-flight team.

A Providence Medical Center emergency medicine physician oversees LifeGuard Alaska and works with the team to implement patient care protocols and monitor the overall quality of care.
