Welcome to the Thoracic Oncology Program at Providence Cancer Center. We are a team of doctors, nurses, social workers and researchers striving to provide and promote the best possible care to people with cancers of the chest, of which the most common is lung cancer. We are also dedicated to the care of people with cancers of the esophagus and thymus, as well as mesothelioma and all other chest cancers.

Ultimately, our goal is to improve outcomes for patients with lung, esophageal and other chest cancers.

In addition, we work to:

  • Prevent and cure chest cancers through research and state-of-the-art patient care
  • Provide expert treatment through a team of chest cancer specialists
  • Improve quality of life for patients and families
  • Enhance lung cancer treatment with innovative bench-to-bedside research
  • Provide support groups and education for patients and their families
  • Provide information and education for health care professionals

Hallmarks of our program include:

  • Weekly multidisciplinary chest conferences for managing patients’ care
  • Clinical and basic research protocols
  • Access to national research studies and innovative local protocols
  • Thoracic oncology practice guidelines for health professionals
  • State-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including endoscopic ultrasound and advanced bronchoscopy
